The Yokai Shop is a short PSX-style horror game. You've taken up a job at a local convenience store to support your studies. The store has a dark and mysterious past. A customer walks in, what could go wrong?
Controls:
- Click the controls button in the main menu for instructions.
- To disable VHS filter press Enter in game and to enable it back on press Enter again
This game was created by a single developer as a school project (also my first ever game), so any feedback, bug, or errors reports that might come up while playing are greatly appreciated to help improve the experience. If there is enough interest, a potential sequel, Part 2 for this game, may be developed.

- Extract the contents of the zip file to your desktop.
- Open the extracted folder and locate the game's executable file (.exe).
- Launch the game by double-clicking the .exe file.

the game is like WAYYYYY too zoomed in i can't see almost anything
The camera has a zooming feature in it if I remember (use scroll wheel). Maybe that is why? I made this game a long time ago for a school project so I did not have time to optimize it for all screens, so try doing 16:9, 1080p if that helps!

How is it not working? What happened?
the game when I try to start it up it doesn’t load the game it just shows me a screen of the shop
Press "Play" and wait for the game to load. That's all I can say. Never had issues with loading up the game. Maybe try reinstalling the game and follow the install instructions

First playthrough of the game I broke it by jumping on a trash bag into the bathroom, Im sorry lol I restarted the game to give it another try at around 11:06 . I did everything I think I was supposed to but I still think it bugged at the end. I watched other people's playthroughs and when they see the bathroom the game ends for them but mine never did and I was wandering around trying to figure out what to do next . The atmosphere is really nice though! . The VHS effect really didnt need to be there though for it to be creepy :) . It is good for a very first game! I look forward to seeing more by you !
1. The settings option are bugged
2. The game is too dark I can't see anything clearly when its dark.
3. The VHS filter needs to be a thinner and toned down. ( Also the removal of the filter is not indicated inside the game so I didn't know I can turn it off)
Overall it is a good game and you have a lot of potential in doing more in the future
Nice work! Decent atmosphere, a bit spooky. All I'd ask is to tone down the VHS flickering, it's kinda distracting as a player.

For the first game ever made it wasn't too bad, if I'm being honest it's kinda obvious it's the first. All my criticisms are at the end of the video however.

A little late for me to post this, but I enjoyed this. It's a shame that I missed every key scare. Nonetheless, it was a great game. But I feel like I missed something, it felt a little short. I'm looking forward to your next game!
